The Sixth Ordinary Session of the African Population Commission will be held in South Africa from July 16-17, 2007 on the theme: “Implications of the State of the African Population”. The issues to be discussed will centre on the 2006 State of the African Population Report and its implications for sustainable development in Africa. The main outcome of the Sixth Ordinary Session of the African Population Commission will be a Declaration on the State of the African Population. Each Member State will be represented at the 6th Ordinary Session of the African Population Commission by a delegation led by the highest official or a representative of the National Population Commission/Council and/or analogous institution dealing with population and development matters. Confirmation of participation and further information on the 6th Ordinary Session of the African Population Commission can be obtained from Dr. Grace Kalimugogo or Mpho Nelweli.
More information will be posted and regularly updated on the AU Website. The South African Department of Social Development will also have a website dedicated to the Sixth Ordinary Session of the African Population Commission.
